Brave enough to be free/ 4 Star Visual Assignment

People often think bravery means being fearless, loud, or strong all the time, but I think real bravery is learning how to live honestly without constantly worrying about what other people expect from you. That idea inspired the piece I created for this assignment. I used palm trees and an open sky because they give a feeling of freedom, peace, and space to breathe.
The quote in the image reflects something I have had to learn through a lot of personal experiences. Between growing up, serving in the military, dealing with difficult transitions, and learning who I am outside of everyone else’s expectations, I realized freedom is not always physical. Sometimes freedom is mental. It is allowing yourself to exist without constantly trying to fit into what other people think you should be.
I chose soft colors and open space in the image because I wanted the piece to feel calm and reflective instead of heavy. The sky represents possibility and peace, while the palm trees create a feeling of looking upward toward something bigger. I wanted the overall mood to feel hopeful and personal at the same time.
This assignment made me think about how bravery can look different for everyone. For some people, bravery is speaking out loudly. For others, it is quietly choosing themselves for the first time. For me, bravery is learning how to live authentically and finding peace in that choice.
