Welcome to My Sanctuary!
Hey, I’m Tyana Smith. I am a proud Black, queer, veteran woman who’s all about activism, digital communication, and fighting for justice. I’m a Communications and Digital Studies major University of Mary Washington. I am alway’s exploring how media and technology shape the world around us.
Before diving into this field, I served in the United States Navy. That experience taught me resilience, leadership, and the importance of standing up for what’s right. It also gave me a unique perspective on justice, equality, and why fighting for marginalized voices is so important. Now, I’m channeling that energy into my passion for activism, and one day, I hope to take that passion to the ACLU, working to protect civil rights and challenge injustice.
This site will service as a portfolio piece where I’ll be completing class assignments/ requirements and sharing my love for digital activism, social movements, and how communication plays a huge role in shaping change. From the power of social media to the impact of digital censorship, I want to dig into the ways activism is evolving in the modern world.
Glad you’re here
Let’s get to work, have some fun and make some change!
